Jiří was hired in 2012 to set up all processes for the brand-new joint TTO serving three research institutions (University of Hradec Králové – UHK, University Hospital Hradec Králové – UH HK, Faculty of Military Health Sciences of the University of Defence – FMHS). CTBT is mostly active in medical devices, medical tools, diagnostics, e-Health, tele-medicine and biomedicals, and therefore covers not only inventions and technical solutions but also software (copyright) and trade secrets — algorithms, methods and contracted research tasks.

In 2015 CTBT restructured its functions and Jiří moved to the position of technology transfer specialist for medical technologies, ICT and electronics. Each specialist manages a dedicated technology from beginning to end, applying an area-of-science focus; Jiří specializes in ICT, modern electronic technologies, SW/HW, licence drafting and the business rationale of a licence, complemented by his colleagues’ medical and pharmacy/chemistry backgrounds.

His role is to manage the whole process from research idea to licensing exploitation — screening and assessing ideas, projecting utilisation, managing proof-of-concept projects, contacting potential users and investors, negotiating term sheets and licence agreements, and overseeing exploitation and payments. He has passed numerous AUTM and ASTP-Proton trainings, earning 96 ATTP-recognized CE points.
